LGB 24900 Stoomtram Maas & Waal nr 1

The locomotives of the Stoomtram Maas & Waal (M&W) Nos. 1–5 were built in 1901 by Backer & Rueb in Breda (later: Machinefabriek Breda) under works numbers 183–187. The engines, with a wheelbase of 1500 mm, entered service in 1902. They were built very robustly to cope with the gradients on Nieuwe Marktstraat and Stieltjesstraat between the Hezelpoort and the station. The empty weight was 13.2 tons, the boiler pressure 14.46 kg/cm³, and the tractive effort 2630 kg. The locomotives occasionally also operated on the lines of the Nijmeegse Tramweg-Maatschappij (NmTM), which also featured significant gradients. In 1904, the coal bunkers were enlarged, and in 1914 the roof-mounted condenser was removed. After the tram line was closed in 1934, the locomotives were scrapped.

Technically, the locomotive is as new and has barely been run. Visually, the locomotive has been modified both inside and out. See images. You will not find a second example of this model – it is a one-of-a-kind piece.
